The longest day

With the start of the LBA build imminent, the preparation work continues apace. In addition to all the on-field work and the delivery of aerial components, there are all the other items that are needed to ensure a successful build week. These include the signs, documentation, tools, safety gear, first aid kits, supplies and provisions.

Each LOFAR Build team will have a tool kit containing all the necessary items to assemble an aerial. These tool kits need to be assembled and checked to ensure that the teams will be fully equipped for their work.


Stock piles of safety gear: hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, first aid supplies... the lists goes on. Late at night, these are moved into the workshops, boxed and labelled ready for the big week ahead.
